Hello! And welcome to Central Christian Church!
Our congregation was established in 1882 as Second Christian Church, located in West Augusta, following the establishment of First Christian Church, on Greene Street. We are affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), located in Indianapolis, IN. A noted Augustan, Mrs. Emily Tubman, provided funding for the land on Crawford Avenue and donated funds for the construction of the sanctuary, which still stands and is used as the fellowship hall and chapel.
One thread weaves its way throughout our history – we welcome all people to worship and fellowship with us. Our worship service is traditional, and we observe Communion weekly, inviting all who have accepted Jesus as Lord to our Table. The Word of God is preached in sermons, in songs, and in prayers. Dress is “church casual.” Suits and ties are not required.
Opportunities for service abound. We have a great choir and Sunday School groups as well as active groups for men and women. Our doors are open to all. We look forward to meeting you and worshipping with us as we praise our Lord and our Redeemer!
